Frequently Asked Questions

What is CO2OPT?

CO2OPT is a digital platform for tire management and tire optimisation for commercial vehicle fleets. It combines tire, vehicle and telematics data to digitally map the entire tire lifecycle and enable data-driven tire decisions.

How does CO2OPT help my fleet?

CO2OPT provides transparency into tire inventory, condition, mileage and costs. At the same time, the platform analyses real-world operating data to recommend suitable tires and identify opportunities to reduce tire, fuel and administrative costs.

What types of fleets is CO2OPT suitable for?

CO2OPT is particularly suitable for commercial vehicle fleets with around 50 trucks or more and existing telematics systems. The solution is industry-independent and suitable for a wide range of operating profiles - from long-haul transport to regional distribution.

Is CO2OPT neutral?

YES! The founders of CO2OPT have deep roots in the tire industry and in the past were more and more confronted that the market was getting impacted by a shrinking independent dealer base. Thus, CO2OPT's algorithms and other features are fully operating on facts to ensure that the fleet operators can make the best decisions for their business independently.

What data does CO2OPT require?

To set up your account, we require an up-to-date vehicle list, access to the relevant telematics data and information about the tires currently in use. Based on this data, we can configure your account and generate initial analyses and recommendations.

How do I transfer my data to CO2OPT?

Simply provide us with the required data - we take care of the rest. Our team sets up your account, imports the available information and supports you throughout the entire onboarding process.

How do I connect my telematics system to CO2OPT?

We will let you know which credentials or permissions are required for your specific telematics provider. Once provided, CO2OPT sets up the integration for you.

Which telematics systems does CO2OPT support?

CO2OPT already supports numerous systems, including Fleetboard, Transics, Krone, Webfleet, Schmitz Cargobull, Sensolus, Spedion, RIO, Scania, Volvo, YellowFox, Route42, Trimble, Mapon, DAKO, Samsara, Platform Science and idem. Additional systems can be integrated depending on API availability.

How is tire data updated?

Tire changes can be recorded directly in the web or mobile application. Alternatively, tire reports and vehicle changes can be sent to upload@co2opt.com.

Is support available during onboarding?

Yes. In addition to personal onboarding support, our Knowledge Base provides videos and guides covering the platform's key features.

Can I track the entire lifecycle of a tire?

Yes. CO2OPT enables you to digitally track each tire throughout its entire lifecycle - from purchasing and inventory through mounting, demounting and reuse to retreading or disposal.

Where can I see my vehicles and tires?

You can find an overview of your fleet directly in the dashboard and under the "Fleet" section. From there, you can access individual vehicles, axles and tire positions.

How do I perform a tire change?

Select the relevant tire position on the vehicle or choose the "Change tire" function and assign the new tire.

How do I know when a tire should be replaced?

CO2OPT combines recorded tread-depth measurements with telematics-based tire wear calculations. Critical tires are automatically highlighted and also displayed on the dashboard.

What do the colours of the tire positions mean?

Yellow indicates tires with a remaining tread depth of 3-5 mm, while red indicates tires with less than 3 mm. This makes it easy to quickly identify tires that require attention.

How quickly are changes displayed?

Changes entered manually are visible immediately. Data submitted via email is generally processed within one business day.

Aren't "retread" tires dangerous?

You always have the option to not include retread tires, hot or cold, in your individual tire management strategy. However, the retread technology has been developed over decades now and the product quality has become great by meeting the highest safety regulations. Therefore, you should consider this technology as a vital part to save costs and to make a positive environmental impact.

How does CO2OPT generate tire recommendations?

CO2OPT analyses vehicle, tire and telematics data together with the respective operating profile. Additional factors such as road conditions and weather can also be taken into account. Based on this information, the platform identifies suitable tires for the specific application.

Does CO2OPT recommend a different tire for every vehicle?

Not necessarily. CO2OPT can generate recommendations for individual vehicles, groups of similar vehicles or the entire fleet. Vehicles operating under comparable conditions can therefore follow a standardised tire strategy.

Can I optimise for different objectives?

Yes. Tires can be evaluated and prioritised according to factors such as mileage, fuel efficiency or other economic criteria.

Why is CO2OPT better in tire management than tire dealer or tire industry consultations?

First of all, professional tire management can just be done with good tires produced by the tire industry as well as great services from tire dealers. CO2OPT helps with its expertise in data analytics and AI to connect the dots so that the best match between the individual needs of a fleet, tire products, and services is being made. CO2OPT has the goal to enable each fleet, small or huge, to gain access with just a few clicks to the best tire management deals so that a positive impact financially and environmentally is being made.

How does CO2OPT identify potential savings?

CO2OPT combines real-world vehicle, fuel consumption and tire data with performance data from comparable tires and operating profiles. This makes it possible to quantify differences between existing and alternative tire strategies.

How is the potential CO₂ reduction calculated?

The calculation is based on fuel consumption and the expected difference in consumption between tires under comparable operating conditions. The corresponding CO₂ reduction is then derived from the potential fuel savings.

How reliable are the calculations?

Where available, the analyses are based on real-world vehicle, telematics and tire data. As the amount of available data increases, the actual operating conditions of the fleet can be taken into account with increasing precision.

Can I export reports?

Yes. Various reports covering the fleet, tires, usage and changes can be exported from the "Reports" section, including as PDF or Excel files.

Does CO2OPT replace my existing fleet management system?

No. CO2OPT complements existing systems with specialised digital tire management and tire optimisation. Existing telematics data can be integrated into CO2OPT via interfaces.

Is my data secure with CO2OPT?

CO2OPT processes data in accordance with GDPR requirements and implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect customer data. Our servers are located in Germany, and we work with AWS, one of the largest and most trusted cloud service providers in the EU.

Does CO2OPT sell my data or share it with third parties?

No. The data belongs to you, and we are very aware of that. We are working every hour and using top-notch technology to keep your data safe. We do not make any compromises here. Furthermore, we only use your data to improve the user experience of our platform or create anonymized reports to show the behaviour of the logistics industry.

How quickly can CO2OPT be implemented in my fleet?

The onboarding process is straightforward and requires minimal effort from the customer. Once the vehicle, tire and telematics data is available, CO2OPT takes care of account setup, data import and the integration of available interfaces. Once we have received all the required data, the account can be set up in less than one day.

How long does it take until the first tire recommendations are available?

CO2OPT can begin its analysis as soon as sufficient vehicle, tire and telematics data is available. The more historical and current data available, the more accurately the actual operating conditions of the fleet can be taken into account.

How much does CO2OPT cost?

Pricing depends on the size of your fleet and the required scope of services. We are happy to provide an individual offer tailored to your fleet and specific requirements.

Do I need to install new hardware?

No. CO2OPT uses existing vehicle, tire and telematics data and can be connected to numerous existing telematics systems.

Do my drivers need to use the CO2OPT app?

No. Driver involvement is not required for basic tire management and tire optimisation. However, the mobile application can be used to record tire information and changes directly on site.

Can I initially test CO2OPT with only part of my fleet?

Yes. It is possible to start with a selected part of your fleet. Together, we define a suitable scope to test CO2OPT under your actual operating conditions before deciding whether to expand its use across the fleet.

What support does CO2OPT provide after onboarding?

The CO2OPT team remains available after setup to assist with questions and the use of the platform. In addition, the CO2OPT Knowledge Base provides guides and videos covering the platform's key features.

How long is the runtime of a contract with CO2OPT?

2 years. The longer you share data with the CO2OPT algorithms and AI, the more it helps you to optimise your fleet and save money as well as CO2 emissions.

What is included in the free version?

By registering for free on our platform you can create a digital twin of your fleet. This means you will have a great overview of your fleet, which you most likely never had before in such detail. On top, you will get exact figures on how high your individual potential savings are. Afterwards, we can talk business.

How does CO2OPT earn money?

CO2OPT generates revenue by selling the different features of the platform to fleets. In addition, we are taking a commission fee once fleets close tire management contracts with tire suppliers. Nevertheless, neutrality of the platform is guaranteed at all times.

How does the De-Minimis application service from CO2OPT work? (German fleets only)

During the onboarding process and always in your company profile you can let us know that you would like to use De-Minimis funds for tires and tire service costs. If you do so, you can use our fully automatic De-Minimis application service, where you allow us to hand in all paperwork for you. This service is included in the premium packages and is structured as easily and intuitively as all other features we offer.

With whom does the fleet sign a contract if a tire management deal is being made?

Always with the tire supplier directly. CO2OPT only helps to find the best match between the fleet and the supplier. In addition, we support operating processes afterwards, such as sharing the mileage data, if the fleet gives us permission to do so.

If I know the best tire for my fleet, why do I need to stay so long in business with CO2OPT?

We do not believe in short-term business relations. The CO2OPT platform and its technologies become a bit better every day as the fleet gets more optimized. In addition, the dashboard features will give you regular operational suggestions on what to avoid or where to take precautionary actions to finally achieve the expected savings. Finally, we grant you a certificate for achieved CO₂ emission savings if we also analyzed the operations with our certified method.

Can I invite other fleets to use the CO2OPT platform? (Promotion programme)

It is great if you are that satisfied with the services of CO2OPT and thus we are happy to reward you and the invited fleet with three months of fully refunded fees.
